  • also getting this error on a site, anyone know what going on? I tried renaming the plugins directory and cache directory (finding that as a solution in a different post) but that didn’t work for me

    same here

Just got the exact same message this morning after trying to upgrade to 3.8. Any clues on this issue? Did anyone resolve it?

You did not update all the WordPress files properly.

The _search_terms_tidy function was moved out of the functions.php file and into the deprecated.php file.

When you upgrade WordPress, you need to make sure ALL the files get updated.

Do a manual upgrade, and make sure that no files get skipped.

Thanks Sam, I’ve started a new, manual update process. The automated one failed during upgrade (unknown reason) and subsequently initiated the error.
