• Hello,

I have just updated the website I maintain and after I did so I was trying to do a “live preview” of another theme so I could customize it and I got this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method _WP_Editors::enqueue_default_editor() in /home/uucame5/public_html/uuaugusta/wp-includes/general-template.php on line 3090

I thought it was a thing specifically for this site because I have been having an issue with backing up some of the files. However, on another site I have (basically a sandbox) to look at themes and test things out before I start working on the main site, it has the exact same error and it ONLY did this after I updated to WordPress 4.8 so obviously this is related to that. I have cleared my cache and nothing has worked.

Can someone please help so I can get this resolved?

    Thanks,
    Erica

I recommend asking the author of the theme. Make sure the theme is compatible with WP 4.8

With all due respect I have several themes installed that I have been looking at to update my site with. I had NO problems with live preview before the update. Now, I do. Several of these themes are new and I do not think they would not be compatible. I have seen other posts from just a few days ago with this error in other posts in regard to widgets. That leads me to believe that something specific is wrong with 4.8

I hope a patch is coming soon.

To give an example I have tried several versions of the “Catch” theme. In particular two types that were mentioned specifically in their support forum as being compatible. Yet, I still come up with the same error, so it’s not me or the theme. It’s the update.

Is there any update on a patch or what is the process to roll back to the previous version–the one that worked.

I am getting this error everytime I try to hit Appearance, Customize, in Twenty Ten, Customizr, Twenty Eleven Themes. There is a problem in 4.8.

I noticed that the CK Editor plugin caused a lot of problems when I first updated and I deactivated that and things started to smooth out. If you have that plugin then deactivate it and see how things go.

Disabled CKEditor and the error went away. Thanks.

Disabling CKEditor worked for me too …
THANK YOU!! had lost all hope of editing my widgets!

    Thanks @eri2121981

    Thank you that totally worked!!
