  • Hi,

You are using an unsupported PHP version. It is strongly recommended to use at least PHP 5.6.

Nevertheless, we have just made a release of Sermon Manager that fixes this issue.
Just remove the wp-content/plugins/sermon-manager-for-wordpress directory and install latest Sermon Manager. No sermons will be lost.

Also, please update your PHP version ASAP.

    Hi,

Well I get that I don’t have a currently supported version of PHP and it’s unnecessary to repeat that I need to download it. I’m going to after I get this cleared up. The problem is my site is down and this update I tried to do broke it. Period. I can’t even get into anything else on the site to even remove anything. Is this a situation where I will need to contact my hosting service and access through FTP?

I got rid of the plug in and it is running now. thank you

    Hey @eri2121981,

Glad to hear that you got back into the website. (for people who stumble upon this issue in future: yes, plugin needs to be removed via FTP)

We hope that you didn’t remove Sermon Manager forever, you can safely install it again now, we fixed the issue. ??

I came across a similar fatal error, after updating my plugin. Instead of removing the plugin, I was able to update the PHP and the site worked again. I have been unsuccessful at getting the plugin to work properly in terms of the podcast feed actually working, so I am continuing to try to figure out what the problem might be.

It can be frustrating trying to figure this out, especially when building and maintaining the website is part of the “other duties as needed” part of my job description, and I am by no means a professional website designer.

I’ll continue to try because I see the value in using the plugin. Just trying to get the “We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 404” error to go away. ??

    Hey @esmom98,

We completely understand your frustration, but we are here to help when things are not working quite well.

The problem is that feed URL has been changed, we are not sure why exactly, but we are investigating the problem since couple users reported it.

In the meantime, just follow these steps to get iTunes to work again:
    1. Open Sermon Manager -> Settings
    2. Go to “Podcasts” tab
    3. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page
    4. Copy the URL that is in the box under “Feed URL to Submit to iTunes”
    5. Submit it to iTunes instead of old one

Everything should work correctly now, but if it doesn’t then message us and we will gladly help.

Thank you for your patience. ??

Thank you! I spent some time earlier today figuring that out. I updated iTunes and at least one of the sources that uses the correct feed now reflects all the new sermons.

I really do like the plugin and I appreciate the work you put into it.

    Hey @esmom98,

Thank you, and we are glad to hear that it’s solved. ??
