    Hi guys, my site broke yesterday because of a fatal error with your plugin. I received an email from WordPress which I’m pasting here so you can see the details of the error. I had to deactivate the plugin to get my site back. I’d love to keep using the plugin… Any ideas? Thanks

    “Hi!

    Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

    In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress.

    First, visit your website (https://pitter-pattern.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught and check for any visible issues.

    Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

    If your site appears broken and you can’t access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special “recovery mode”. This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don’t worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

    When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.3
    Current theme: Accio (version 1.4)
    Current plugin: MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress (version 4.7.2)
    PHP version 7.3.12

    Error Details
    =============
    An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused in line 51 of the file /home/pitterp1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/mailchimp-for-wp.php. Error message: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home/pitterp1/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/vendor/autoload_52.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/alt/php73/usr/share/pear’)”

    Hello @verogalbraith,

    Ugh, I am sorry to hear that. Looking at the error message it looks like the update process somehow did not complete and some files were not properly updated, resulting in the error. If you try again then the issue should be gone, as it’s not an issue in the plugin itself but an issue during the update process.

    Hope that helps. If not, let us know please.

    Hi Danny, thanks for your fast reply!

    I tried activating it again but it broke the site again ??

    Do you mean I need to uninstall the plugin completely and reinstall? Or how do I go about it?

    Thanks again

    @verogalbraith I think what Danny means (and so it seems to me too) that what broke your site was that the plugin was only partially updated.

    Delete the plugin files using FTP/hosting file manager (this keeps the data). Then, use WordPress to install it again (Plugins > Add New)

    @verogalbraith,

    As suggested by @galbaras, please delete the plugin using FTP and then reinstall the plugin again.
