    Hi.

I tried to get some tips on Author’s site with no answer.

I use Download Attachments plugin in a large and quite heavy site with many downloads in posts and pages. It works well but it slows down the whole page significantly and sometimes – lately more often – it crashes down edited posts/sites with error (different numbers when dots):
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of ... bytes exhausted (tried to allocate ... bytes) in /wp-includes/meta.php on line ...

The server’s memory is set much above the alerts.
All procedures with switching off all plugins, default themes, etc. – checked. The 100% reason of the error is the plugin itsef: when it’s off – everything flies.

    Any fix or help?

    Cheers,

    That’s pretty strange.

Is there any option we can take a look at the site you’re having this issue?

You could use our dedicated plugin forum here: https://www.dfactory.eu/support/forum/download-attachments/, publish site login credentials (in private reply mode) Then we could take a deeper look into this.

Sorry, Guys, it’s impossible due to security reasons.

Here is a screenshot of the error.

Last hour I did everything from the beginning: switched off all 28 plugins and check them carefully one by one. All work fine one with another. Your plugin crashes few things in administration (mostly adding & editing posts & pages) no matter it’s on alone or with others. When I turn it off – the site accelerates impresively and all issues are gone.

I fight with this for few days with no results (also with our host provider – everythings looks good on their site).

My theory is – and of course I could be completely wrong – the plugin has troubles with large media library. When we had hundreds of media in library – there were no issues at all. Now we have ~10 000 pictures, docs and music files and the problem intesifies proportionally with the amount of files in library.

If we won’t find a solution very soon I’ll be forced to find another way of organising attechments: my bosses’ patience seems to reach its limits… ??

Updated and works like a charm.

May I know – if it’s not a secret – what was it?

Nonetheless MANY thanks for Your super quick help
    & the great plugin.

Accidently, we were doing a query on all attachments if there were no attachments set in DA metabox for an edited post.

That’s why it was generating a memory issue and was affecting backend and frontend site performace if you had large number of files.

So thank you for reporting this Krzysiek,

    Best regards,
