Try deactivating plugins. Maybe a plugin is causing this issue.
Log in to your FTP account and rename the folder plugins to pluginsbackup,
Then try to log in again.
Does it work?

If not you can restore the plugins by renaming pluginsbackup to plugins again.

On some hosting providers you cannot increase the memory limit.

Go to your wordpress install via FTP. Then to the wp-content folder.
there is a plugins folder inside. that’s the folder i am talking about.

Some ideas :

Check your error logs, if there are any.

Try uploading a new WordPress install, but do not delete your current wp-content folder. Backup your database before if possible.

@celestemorrison: this is a very comon error and issue with some hosts. You don’t need to look in error logs (right now) or reinstall WordPress, as curlybracket claims.

Using FTP you can try increasing the memory for PHP and WordPress by adding the “define” line below in your wp-config.php file a few lines of white space below the opening <?php

define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');

If that doesn’t work, it may mean that your web hosting company won’t allow more memory usage; in that case, ask them about it. See Recommended WordPress Web Hosting
