Fatal Error After Upgrade Latest Version

  • Just upgraded to latest version of Sydney theme. Unable to access WordPress dashboard after update.

    Get the following error:

    Fatal error: Cannot declare class Sydney_Latest_News, because the name is already in use in ..\wp-content\themes\sydney\widgets\fp-latest-news.php on line 123

    I have 12 plugins installed. Site Origin, Updraft Plus, WP Sweep etc. The only way to resolve this issue is to rename the Sydney folder which gives me access to WordPress dashboard and restore a previous backup of database and Sydney theme.

    No plugin is causing this issue except the Sydney theme itself.

    The website is currently under development so I am unable to provide a website URL.

    There must be a bug in the latest version of Sydney theme.

    BTW, I am using a child theme based on Sydney theme.

    Did you redefine the Sydney_Latest_News class name in your child theme?

    What will happen if you disable your child theme?
