Fatal Error after updating plug ins

  • I have been given the job of doing some updates to a website that has not been touched since 2010. It is currently in WP vers 3.0.4, which I will slowly begin to update to the most recent version. I decided to go ahead and see about the small updates first, so I updated the plug ins. After updating them I now get the following message on a couple of the pages: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class ReCaptchaResponse in /home/76/05/2010576/web/wp-content/plugins/formidable/classes/recaptchalib.php on line 137

    Does this mean I should have updated the plug ins first? The ones updated were
    WP-reCAPTCHA and Akismet

    Thank you in advance. Also what is the first version of WP I should update to or do I need to go through all of them individually until I get to 4.5?
