Fatal error after Plugin Update
-
I manage this website and have used WPBruiser for some time (weeks>? months?) and I updated some plugins tonight and got a blank white Admin section and this error:
Fatal error: Can’t use method return value in write context in /home/username/public_html/wp-content/plugins/goodbye-captcha/engine/modules/licenses/GdbcLicensesAdminModule.php on line 187
I went in to the hosting company’s File Manager and deleted the /wp-content/plugins/goodbye-captcha/ and tried reinstalling and when I activated WPBruiser I got the same error again. I tried to delete the plugin with the hosting company’s File Manager, reinstalled WPBruiser and tried to delete the plugin using the Delete link on the Plugins page hoping a “clean delete” would fix the issue. Delete didn’t work so I used the hosting company’s File Manager to delete the plugin again.
At some point I noticed the Invisible reCaptcha plugin … I didn’t realize I had both of these running so deactivated and deleted Invisible reCaptcha via the plugins page and tried reinstalling WPBruiser again. I got the same error message and had to use the hosting company’s File Manager to delete the plugin again and installed and activated the Invisible reCaptcha plugin again.
1. I noticed you are the author of both plugins, so I am wondering if they both perform exactly the same function? It seems like they do the same thing but WPBruiser offers me some settings and notifications that Invisible reCaptcha does not.
2. I checked another installation of WPBruiser on another blog I manage and after an update its running fine so I obviously need to troubleshoot this website. Please advise how I should proceed – unless I learn something in question 1 above I prefer WPBruiser.
