Fatal error after autoupdate 3.7.11

  • Hi there, in order to update my wordpress site I went to an open SSL server. As soon as I did this, I got an email from WordPress that I had been automatically updated to 3.7.11. Now I cannot access my site or dashboard at all, I get this message:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /home/helen4/public_html/Wordpress/wp-content/plugins/twenty-eleven-theme-extensions/moztools/mozbase.php on line 44

    What’s up with that and how can I fix it? (not a programmer, so please give dummy version). I know I need to update to 4.3.1, that’s why I changed servers.

  • Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Hi thanks for the tip! I went through my host’s file manager, got to the wp plugin files and was able to just delete the moztools file. Site is up, some other glitches but that’s another thread. Thanks again!
