I confirm that the moment I activate the plugin on the staging site I then got a fatal error again.

Yes, I have users stuck in limbo who registered, and I can’t approve until the plugin is activated again.

I am afraid that as soon as I updated to this version and reactivated the whole site blew up again as before.

Same experience for me as well – updated to v9 and had the same critical error.

Okay, looking. Not sure at this point what would cause that. Do you have any caching plugins enabled?

Yes, but they worked fine up until now.
