I’m new at WordPress and VERY frustrated. Since I loaded it on my site I’ve had random trouble with “Fatal error Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded…//varying page and line” It seems to be worse around noon. And is it a slow loader most other times. I have equal trouble on Mac, Vista, Windows XP pro, and on both DSL and cable.

So far I only have test entries on the blog.

When all else fails, read the instructions, but I don’t know where to start. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be helpful.

I’m on a windows server at Godaddy. I picked a windows server because we have an existing MS Access Database with our Music Library of over 1000 entries on it I need to adapt onto the website. I usually work on a Linux server.

I’m using the Cleanfrog template and tweaked the CSS to match our existing site.

I started a change log the other day so I would remember what I did, I just changed it to a public page for this help session. https://jhcband.org/wordpress/change-log

    ANY help would be appreciated.

    Thank You in advance.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    Thank You esmi,

Will try deactivating the plugins first. then resting the folder, hopefully that will resolve the problem.

If that does not resolve the issue Is there is no easy way to switch back to the Twenty Ten theme and move what I’ve updated as far as the appearance. I have may hours into it already. I’m thinking I’m going to have to start it from scratch again (I wish i would have started with it in the first place) I really don’t want to go there.

    thank you again.

Have you edited the Twenty Ten theme?

If I remember correctly I did a few small edits and decided to start with a template since I’m a PHP newbie.

Well heck… I deactivated the last two plugins I installed (working backwards) and the pages are loading again. But I’m not sure if it is just random or not. I will check back later and report. Thank you again!

This morning I’m having ISP problems to top it off. I’m getting the error randomly again but I got the same error on my main (no wordpress) page that has 6 simple php includes. When it does load it loads fairly fast. I’ll check from other computers today. Could the Windows server be part of the problem?

    Thank you again.

deactivating plugins seems to have worked. I still have issues around noon, it must be my server. Thank you.
