    Hello!

There is a strange conflict with between Media Library Assistant (Version 3.06) and the Modern Events Calendar Pro (Version 6.8.25) Plugins:

    • When activating the “Sponsors” Module from Modern Events Calendar Pro AND the Media Library Assistant -> It is not possible to save new/edited Events in MEC anymore. I get a generic critical error.
    • If I deactivate MLA I can use the MEC plugin with the Sponsors Module just fine
    • If I deactivate only the Sponsors Module I can use MLA and MEC just fine.
    • The other features like editing and display of both Plugins works just fine. Only the saving throws an error.
    • I had contact with the Modern Events Calendar support who said that it is a bug in Media Library Assistant.
    • I’d prefer to use both plugins and all modules in the future. A temporary workaround is to deactivate MLA or the sponsors, save, then reactivate…
    • Everything is the latest version.
    • Also: I share taxonomy between different plugins: Especially the MEC “Event Categories” are ALSO used to tag photos with MLA, maybe that’s a start. However the error only occurs when the sponsor data gets saved and these are not really used in our media library data…

    Thanks!

Thank you for your report and for the details you provided, which match a recent report from another MLA user. The problem is caused by a defect in the current version (and many older versions) of my Media Library Assistant plugin. My code was changing the format of the “Speakers” taxonomy term array and preventing terms from being applied to the events.

I have uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20230317 that corrects the problem. You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this MLA support topic:

PHP Warning on media upload with Polylang

Once the Development Version is installed you can retest the handling of adding speakers to events in Modern Event Calemdar.

The fix will be part of my next MLA version, which will go out shortly after WordPress 6.2 is released. In the interim it would be great if you could install the Development Version and let me know if it works for you. Thanks for alerting me to this MLA defect, and for your interest in the plugin.

I have released MLA version 3.07, which contains the fixes required for this topic.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems or further questions regarding MLA’s support for the Modern Events Calendar. Thanks for alerting me to this MLA defect.
