Fast-loading real estate theme ?

    I’m currently looking for a WP theme to use as a starting point for a real estate website. I have looked at a fair number of premium themes (WPresidence, Housez, Real homes, …) but whenever I test the real-life showcase sites they are all horrendously slow to load. I mean seriously. I know that it often depends on how well compressed the big images are but I didn’t find a single site using these themes that loads anywhere near acceptably on mobile.

    So, does anyone know of real estate theme that is designed for performance ?

    Or should I just accept that WP is not the right technical solution for this type of site and go with a PHP framework like Bootstrap and build from the ground up ?

  • The theme has nothing to do with the content being loaded (how big the images are or how fast external sites respond to queries). The part that the theme generates is usually pretty small, unless there are big CSS files or big scripts.
    You could probably use those same themes on a blog or business site and they would be fast.

    Yes the images are often the thing that slows down the site most but the sheer number of scripts and chained commands can really slow down WP sites and delay the time to first contentful paint and time to interactive – this is one of the big challenges when I do SEO on WordPress sites. So that’s why I was wondering if there are real estate themes with fewer resources loaded etc.
