Fantastico? Vistapages or IX Web Hosting?

  • Hello Everyone.

    I am going to be starting my blog soon, hopefully it’s a hit ?? I have narrowed my search down to two web hosting companies, ix web hosting and vistapages. I noticed that vistapages has a tool called Fantastico, that installs wordpress with 1 click. Do I really need this, or I can just install wordpress manually? How difficult is a manual installation?

    Any advice would be appreciated!

  • i wouldnt use ix, simply because that voice that started talking the minute I clicked that link scared the crap out of me.

    How difficult is a manual installation? Not hard, if you make sure the hosting meets the requirements and you can follow directions ??

    I myself wouldn’t trust vista. Any host that’s promising 300 gigs of hard drive space, the amount of a good sized server, for about $4 a month shouldn’t be trusted.

    Costs me about $110 a month to run a server once you figure in bandwidth and support.

    I get a broken SSL cert warning with ix every time I load a page.

    edit: And ix is promising 500gigs of space. That’s even worse. Costs me about $200 for a 500 gig hard drive.

    lol, I didnt even look that far at first. Blame it on the woman.

    I think both of them are crappy hosts frankly, with the assorted “look how much we can do” come-ons that are so prevalent these days.

    Do those tactics work? Apparently so.

    Thanks. I went ahead and signed up with Vistapages. Got my account pretty quickly and now working on setting up my WordPress! Hopefully, I won’t have to come here and bug you guys, afterall… it is a 1 click install!
