Found out that my hosting, https://www.ukwebsolutionsdirect.co.uk/ not only had Fantastico, but that WordPress could be installed via it!
However, I am not sure where this particular bug should be reported, so trying here.
On setting it up, you create a password, the only problem is that it is in clear and not hidden.
Which I also believe happened when I set up my local copy (I could be wrong, ailing memory and all that).

During the fantastico install procedure. IIRC there were three pages, one asked for a password to be set up.
If you want the exact stage I’ll set up another and give you exact details. Just let me know.

Sounds more like a problem with the Fantastico installer script to me. WordPress never asks you to input any passwords.

Ok I’ll mention it to my web host for them to pass on.

The email/password in the fantastico install script is if you intend to blog by email …

E-mail account configuration. You only need to worry about this if you plan to blog via e-mail. If you’ve set up a special e-mail account that you’ll use for blogging via e-mail, then enter the settings where applicable. (Bear in mind, you will need to enter an e-mail account password in order to proceed with the installation, simply use a false one if you don’t plan to blog via e-mail.)
