Fancy Permalinks

So I have enabled fancy permalinks on my wordpress. The URL updates but the page content does not? What could be causing this.
My server is running php 5.3.6
The permalink guide through wordpress states
Some versions of PHP 4.4.x and 5.x have a bug that causes mod_rewrite to fail when used with some versions of Apache 2.x. More details at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=35096 and https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=35059.
Any one experience this or have a soltuion
