    Len I feel your frustration.
I can’t load it either but I have gotten further than you. Your data base is made in the server. In my case I am simply trying to load WP on my machine to see if I can use it (it is starting to look like this is not what it is hyped up to be, EZ)
any way, I have installed a local server on my machine. I have tried both wamp and Xzmpp and you have to create the data base and then put the name of the data base in wp-config.

I have successfully installed two blogs on the same domain (the second in an add-on domain) using fantastico in Host Gator. Really was easy and less than 5 mins, with no background in blogging.

I have just registered another domain and added it to my Host Gator account as another add-on domain.

WHen I went to add another WP install (for another blog), I’ve had no luck after three attempts. I can see the files in File Manager, fantastico and Host Gator say “successfully installed” but all I get is a blank screen when I try to see the site or admin panel.

    Any clues?

Hey all, I’m new here and to Wp. What is “but only if you stop IIS.” can’t find it in msconfig startup or sevices

    (@btr57)

Looks like it might be a Host Gator problem, as they have actually not pointed DNS settings when they said they had.

    “Len I feel your frustration.”

    Sorry?

@btr57 – There are many causes for this. Search the forum for “blank screen” and you’ll find lot’s of useful info.

@flyboy1966 – If you can’t locate IIS then it’s probably not running so don’t worry about it. For reference, IIS (Internet Information Services) is basically a server for Windows. It is a part of Windows XP Pro. I don’t think it is actually installed by default. You have to go through the “Add Remove Windows Components” screen to install/activate it. More reading from the Microsoft IIS site.

    Len,
Sambols link worked for me once I pasted the exact lines from the tutorial into the wp-config.
    Good luck!
    Thanks Sambols,

Thanks to LenK and Samball. I did go to the link you provided and followed all of your instructions. And although it didn’t actually work the word press screen came up and based on the link I put in the right stuff and got it to install…. yippee… now all I need to do is learn how to use it…lol’s
