Failure trying to auto update plugins

  • I am trying to update some of my plugins. I clicked on the upgrade automatically link. I then fill in the information about my FTP connection. When I click Proceed, I get the following error.

    Warning: wp_filesystem(class-wp-filesystem-ftpext.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/gjosefs1/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 306

    Fatal error: wp_filesystem(): Failed opening required ‘class-wp-filesystem-ftpext.php’ (include_path=”) in /home/gjosefs1/public_html/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 306

    I checked and that file does exist in that directory. I even tried uploading it again just in case but still the same issue.

    Any ideas?
