    Hi there,

I run a multi-user platform and I’m looking into using the pro version of this on my site. It looks like a great plguin!

However there’s an obstacle in my way. When a contributor goes to the admin page and clicks on Draw Attention the site fails to load, so there’s an issue there.

Ideally at this point in time I’d rather not expose Draw Attention to my regular users so I’d like to be able to set a capability level to see the Draw Attention menu item.

    Hello @venutius,

In the free version of Draw Attention, only one Draw Attention can be created. When you click Draw Attention in the side menu, we attempt to take you directly to that image, but if that user happens to be a Contributor who did not create the image, then the site will fail to load. That’s a bug in our free version that we hadn’t realized was there before, so thank you for letting us know about it! We’ll get that fixed in an upcoming release.

In the Pro version of Draw Attention, you can create multiple Draw Attention images, and that works as expected for users. A Contributor can see the list of images created, but can only edit the ones that they’ve created themselves. They can create a new image and submit it for review as expected. Basically, this bug doesn’t exist at all in our paid version just because of the way the Draw Attention images are handled differently.

Draw Attention images are just a custom post type and we inherit the capabilities for posts – so a user with the ability to edit_posts will see Draw Attention in the menu. If you need finer-grained control, we’d recommend using something like Admin Menu Editor to remove that from the menu for Contributors.

Let us know if you have any other questions we can answer.

Thanks for the response, I’m planning to do some testing this weekend.

Regarding the bugfix, the latest version removes the submenu items but not the menu item, which users can still click on and get the same error.

Hello @venutius – we haven’t released a bug fix for this just yet. I’ll post a note here when we do.

    Hello @venutius,

We released a fix for this issue today, so if you update the most recent version, Contributors will no longer see the Draw Attention menu item.

    Thanks!
