Free UpdraftPlus v 1.24.1: When I want to delete backups from the current list nothing happens,
If I uncheck the option “also delete from remote storage” the backups on the list disappear, however accordingly those on the remote storage remain. Every new backup is then added to the remote storage.
With FileZilla I deleted all backups in the remote “updraft” folder. Then I deactivated the app, deleted and eventually reinstalled it (v 1.24.1). Unfortunately nothing changed.
I deactivated all other plugins – no change.
I note that in the remote storage every backup “.zip” file is followed by a “.zip.list.tmp” file.
The upload to Dropbox seems okay.
The logfile (3.4 MB!) shows tons of debug messages:
    Like “0570.439 (0) [Debug] Output from zip: adding: upgrade-temp-backup/plugins/ (in=0) (out=0) (stored 0%)”
In the end: “0586.530 (0) There were no errors in the uploads, so the ‘resume’ event (1) is being unscheduled”
And: “0586.565 (0) An email has been scheduled for this job, because we are in debug mode”

What’s wrong and what can I do to resolve the problem?
    Thanks

Adding: the “delete local backups” option is checked.
I tried to add the logfile to pastebin – unfortunately I don’t see how to do it (I registered and signed in).

    Hello,

Please could you update UpdraftPlus to the latest version? For pastebin.com after pasting in the log file click the Create New Paste button as seen here. After this, copy the URL from the browser address bar to share here.

    Thanks for the reply.
Sorry, I notice that I gave a wrong version number: my current version is 1.24.3 (not 1.24.1).
I copied the text of the logfile to pastebin.
Pastebin says: you have exceeded the maximum size of 512 kilobytes per Paste.
Is there a way how to send you the logfile (3.4MB)? email?
I tried to make it available on my homepage but apparently failed.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing the log file. In this instance I would suggest manually removing the backups directly from Dropbox that you do not wish to retain. Do the same for the UpdraftPlus >> Backup / Restore >> Existing backups section.

Next, go to UpdraftPlus >> Advanced Tools >>Wipe settings and click the button. You will need to re-connect your Dropbox account. I would then recommend re-saving your backup schedule on the Settings tab also.

Please could you then monitor the backups for the next few days and provide a new log file when the backups are due to be pruned in line with your schedule? Apologies for the inconvenience.

    Hi

Deleted existing backups from the updraft list (first I left the option “delete from local storage” checked – nothing happened. When I unchecked this option the deletion started.
I wiped the settings and successfully reconnected to Dropbox.
    Then I started a backup.
The backup files arrived on Dropbox, but NONE on the webserver, just the logfile (wp-content/updraft).
Please find the logfile here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gvvg54wt59gvb1u58vohz/log.2f37f9cb68ce.txt?rlkey=w0zyoq298vz7kz447r1rwh89k&st=ydvlt0fw&dl=0
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,

Thank you for the update. According to the log file the backup was successful but the setting to delete local backups is checked and therefore the webserver backups are being deleted. For example:

    0099.329 (0) Deleting local file: backup_2024-06-28-1714_foto_WALTHER_2f37f9cb68ce-themes.zip: OK

If you uncheck this option and save changes and then attempt another backup, you should see a line such as this in the log

Deleting local file: backup_2024-06-29-1343_Test_57c32c8e4707-plugins.zip: skipped: user has unchecked updraft_delete_local option

which means that the backup file is not deleted and is retained in the wp-content / updraft folder.

    Hello,
thank you very much for your support. It seems that my problem is solved now.
I reviewed my changelog notes and noticed that my troubles withe UpfraftPus started in March 2023 after updating to version 1.23.1. I was told then that the problem would get solved with further updates.
Meanwhile the problem got out of control and got me confused. Somehow the status of the option “delete local backups” unknowingly seems to have changed (by myself or by the update?).
    Glad you could help.
    Best regards.

    PS
Thank you for helping me with pastebin. I was unfamiliar with its use and desperately was looking for a button to let me send the content. Unfortunately I could not see any explanations on how to use. I was not aware that I simply needed to copy and paste the URL. Only with hindsight (as I am not a native English speaker) I realize that the clue is in the name “pastebin”.
