Failed W3C validation with <html> tag

  • You don’t seem to have a </head> bit closing off your header. You’ll need that before <body>

    On the face of it: It is unlikely the validator would be disturbed by <html> ??

    mrmist is correct. You’ve failed to end your <head> area with a </head> tag, which means that the <body> and </html> tags are in the wrong place. Technically, they “can’t” be there because the <head> is not yet closed.
