Sorry, I already read plugin’s FAQs. That’s why I contacted my server administrator and he told me everything was fine with email configuration and functionality. I have read these:

FAQ > After submitting the form, I get an error message stating “Failed to send your message”. What is wrong?

FAQ > I get an error message with a red border. So, how can I solve this?

    Announcement
Red Border Error Issue on WordPress 4.4.1

But none of these things seems to be my issue.

    Thanks,
    Liz

I have the same issue, and suddenly started to happen. Any ideas?

I have the same issue only the exact error message is “There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.

Actually, my problem was in server′s configuration. According to my server administrator, it was due to some new permission restriction on Plesk.

It really seems to be always a server misconfiguration.

    Hope this helps.

I was using UpiCRM and that plugin uses PHP mailer to nofity about lead status however I think my problem is related to spoofing, it means that the UpiCRM address that sends the email is different to the my domain.

But how can I remove the blocking status to my PHP mailer function? Now I cannot make use of any other plugin for example Mail Poet.

    Thanks for your help.

I found a fix to my issue with this– my problem stemmed from the WP-Mail-SMTP Plugin. I was also getting the “failed to send” message in the red box. Then I tested whether my WordPress installation was able to send emails by going through the “forgot password” function on wp-login.php (doing this was one of several tactics recommended in this article: https://kb.cf7skins.com/contact-form-7-email-issues/#sendemails).

I received the following error message stating that an email could not be sent to me to reset my password… “The email could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function.” This let me know that the problem was not with the Contact form itself.

It turns out, the problem was with our WP-Mail-SMTP plugin. We had updated the password on our email account, but failed to update the email password field in the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin. As a result, the WP-Mail-SMTP plugin could not access our email account to process our emails. Once we updated the password field in WP-Mail-SMTP to our correct email password, our Contact Forms were working again.

I hope this helps someone. Best wishes!
