• I’m having the same problem as others. My contact form here stopped working:
    https://sws-steel.com/contact/

I’ve been reading through the other threads. I had originally had the “from” block under the “Mail” tab in the contact form with the default [your-name] <[your-email]>, which always worked in the past.

    I changed it to this [your-name] <[email protected]>

That is an email I just set up, just to give it a valid email address to work with. The site is hosted on BlueHost.com which has always had top notch WordPress support.

I don’t know what else to do to fix this. The client and their customers have complained it’s not working. I still get the “Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.” message surrounded by a red box.

As a test, I created a new form. I used purely default settings, except under the “Mail” tab, in the “To” box I put in my personal email address. It worked fine. Then I tried two more personal email addresses, and they also worked fine. I then tried multiple emails addresses for my client (several different URLs). None of them worked, so the issue seems to be with the email hosting of my client (NOT Bluehost…). I can email their IT guy, but I have no clue how to explain this to him, other than “your email hosting is blocking form-generated email produced by WordPress.” It’s hard to ask for help when I don’t know how to explain it (and don’t want him getting into the WordPress site and potentially messing things up).

@kentbingham – getting a “Failed to send your message ..” is a very different issue to the issues you described in your last comment.

Can you please confirm if you are seeing the green success message when you submit the form.

When I use one of my client’s email addresses in the “To” block, I get the red box that says:
Failed to send your message. Please try later or contact the administrator by another method.

When I change it to any of my email addresses (one is gmail, the other a personal domain), it works fine, and I get a green box that says: Your message was sent successfully. Thanks.
    And the email comes through.

Can you add here an example of the clients email address you are adding in the To: field.

the original one was [email protected]
    The second is [email protected]

Both of those domains are hosted through Bluehost, however the email isn’t through Bluehost. Their IT guy has it set up some other way.

    Thanks,

The “Failed to send your message ..” means that the email is not being sent by the WordPress install on Bluehost.

This indicates that these email addresses are somehow being blocked by the setup used on that domain on Bluehost. I suspect this is done deliberately by the IT guy so that all the relevant emails don’t go through Bluehost.

That might give you enough to start a discussion on this issue with the IT guy.

NOTE: CF7 is working correctly on this install as confirmed by your test emails.
