Getting the same message. Something to do with this perhaps?

On 6 January, 2016, WordPress 4.4.1 was released to the public.

    Update:

    This fixed my issue:

Ensure Proper Return Address is Used
The From: address used in the Mail section of the CF7 interface can be important in determining if an email is able to be sent via the CF7 plugin.

A simple and generally reliable way to ensure email deliverability is to use an email address that belongs to the same domain as your WordPress site in the From field in the Mail & Mail(2) sections of the CF7 interface.

Some hosting requires that any emails being sent via WordPress are from a valid email address on your local domain.

If you leave the From: address in the Mail section of the CF7 interface empty, then by default, the WordPress mailer fills in the email’s From: field as WordPress <[email protected]>.

All my forms don’t work today, when I try to fill the fields and I push the submit button, I get back this message “Failed to send your message. Please try again later or contact the administrator by another method”.

The form were ok until yesterday, so I don’t understand what could be…

Same problem. All my forms failed to send.
It looks the wordpress update tot 4.1.1. is a reason ?

    Solutions are welcom

    @buzztone
    Thank for your information.
I too have several website with a lot of forms.

One of my websites wasn’t updated to WordPress 4.4.1. and did send flawless.
I just updated this website to 4.4.1. and it failed to send.

So i conclude that this is looks like a problem with the update this morning.

Today after I installed the update to WordPress 4.4.1, I noticed that I have the same issue. Until the update everything worked fine, so I am sure that the update changed something, and that is causing the problem (even if just indirectly).

However, I tried what csjamo83 wrote earlier and that fixed my problem!

Until now I had in the From field only the text “WordPress” and Contact Form 7 worked correctly until now, adding the email address automatically to the text in that field.

But now after the current WordPress update, when nothing worked anymore, I figured out that I must also add a valid email address to that field, so at this moment the content of my From field looks like this: “WordPress <[email protected]>”.

the valid email from the domain worked for me! also i had to redo the captcha license because that must’ve gotten reset with the update.

“If you leave the From: address in the Mail section of the CF7 interface empty, then by default, the WordPress mailer fills in the email’s From: field as WordPress <[email protected]>.”

Same problem. That solution worked for me. Thanks.

This solution also worked for me. Will this fix be part of a plugin update? I had an entry in the From: field on several sites because that was the default setting.

    It worked also for me.

This solution isn’t working for me ?? when everyone is saying “From:” that is in the individual contact forms set up correct? or in the settings

I’ve read all the links and done everything short of uninstalling the plugin and starting over. My forms worked fine yesterday and not today (after our WordPress updated.) I don’t think that’s a coincidence, sorry.

I’m having same issue as others. As was stated, adding an email address to the from field fixed it.

I had only mail tags in the from:

    [your-name] [your-email]

This worked fine until today. So, I had to add an email address. Now my from field looks like this:

    [your-name] [your-email] <[email protected]>

Obviously, “mysite” is the url of my site.

@s7robin – I think it’s a coincidence. I’m using CF7 on many sites that have updated to WP 4.4.1 without problems.

I’ve now answered variations on the email sending question well over a 1000 times in this forum. Nearly every time we have an update to WP or CF7 we get a number of posts from people saying it’s due to the recent update.

I guess it’s human nature for people to associate the two events. With millions of people using CF7 every day, it’s inevitable that several hundred people have email sending problems each day.

When people come to this forum, when having problems after an update, and see someone else having a problem they sometimes conclude that the problem is the update.

That has never been true since I started answering this question a few years ago. Usually, after about a week, people stop associating the problem with the update and go back to finding the actual cause of the problem in their particular case.
