Failed to load resource admin-ajax.php for menus and widgets
-
I’m getting the endless spinning grey disk when I try to add menu items or widgets.
The error console reveals a Server 500 error: Failed to load resources /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php
This is happening to all of my WordPress sites on a specific host, regardless of theme. Sites on other hosts are fine.
All sites are up to date, all sites are running on php 7.3
I am in touch with the hosting company, but so far they haven’t been able to resolve this. In fact they claim they can add menu items.
They said earlier it might be an issue with mod security, but they claim to have whitelisted it.
I’ve tried the usual:
1) Disabling plugins;
2) Activating another theme
3) Checking PHP memory limit (758M)
4) Reloading core WP files
5) Disabling the .htaccess fileAnd I’ve cleared the cache in my browser and also tried multiple browsers. I’ve also tried logging in from a different IP address.
I’m stumped. Any ideas?
