Failed to import Media "": Remote server did not respond

  • Hi,

    I’m trying to import a full website on a fresh wordpress install and I keep getting this error:

    Failed to import Media “(path)”: Remote server did not respond

    The website I’m trying to import is on our local network, but it doesn’t have DNS record. I’ve added the /etc/hosts entry and all works fine on the machine, but does this plugin support this kind of import?

    Also, I’m using a proxy, which is working fine on WordPress. I’ve added the site name, which is on hosts file, to the bypass list.

    Does wordpress/plugin perform the hosts file name conversion?

    The plugin will try to use cURL to connect.

    You could try turning on import debug and/or inserting some temporary code that reports the actual cURL error.
