Failed to Connect to FTP Server

    I’ve recently installed 3.4.2 to my website and keep getting asked for FTP connection info when I want to update a plugin or add a theme or a widget. I put my FTP details in and keep getting this error:

    Failed to Connect to FTP Server (IP address:port)

    I’ve checked and rechecked the details and even changed them to see if i can get it to work – nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled WP – nothing. Check with my hosting service and the FTP server is working fine – confirmed this by using Filezilla…

    I noticed there was something similar come up with this in an older version of WP (?2.5) so it’s obviously not an unknown problem.

    Can anybody help?!?!
