    Hi
The firewall has just come out of learning mode and I followed the procedure to configure the WAF, but after pressing CONTINUE, then I got the following message:
We were unable to create the wordfence-waf.php file in the root of the WordPress installation. It’s possible WordPress cannot write to the wordfence-waf.php file because of file permissions. Please verify the permissions are correct and retry the installation.

Can anyone please suggest what I need to do?
    Thanks
    Simon

I am with IONIS hosting company, if this is helpful?

    Hey @simonmartin01,

By default, the “wordfence-waf.php” file will be created in the “root” folder of your site (at the same level as the site’s “.htaccess” file); so make sure the user the webserver runs as has sufficient privileges to write into that folder.

You can check who that use should be by looking at the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page, in the PHP Environment section where it says “Process Owner”. That is who should own the files in that folder to write to.

Please let me know what you find.

    Thanks,

    Hi @wfgerald

I dont seem to find Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page, if you can help further with that, then I would be grateful. But a further update, is that I contacted my hosting company (IONIS) and they informed me that the WP site is a managed one, by them and if I wanted to solve issue, then I would need to manage it myself!

I dont have any experience of doing this, so would feel I might make a mess of things!

I have sent a ticket to premium support (just joined now about this issue and asked for advice, but if you have advice etc, then please let me know. Thanks

    @wfgerald

update I found the Diagnostics section and process owner, but I dont understand the numbers/code there. It has a tick, if that means anything?

did not paste it here, as not sure if it was safe to?
    thanks

    Hey @simonmartin01,

You can send me a Diagnostics report so I can get a better overview of your environment, this way I can take a look for you. Please navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics. Here you can select SEND REPORT BY EMAIL. Please include your www.remarpro.com username and update this thread after you’ve sent it.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
