We’re losing loads of orders because this plug-in rarely allows the customer to finish the payment process.

However, we’ve just had an order come through and it showed that the payment was authorised when it wasn’t (it was an obvious attempt at fraud). The transaction didn’t show up under PayPal’s activity so I called them up and PayPal confirmed the payment was declined.

WooCommerce gave me the option to capture the payment but came up with an error message saying “Payment already captured” and “Order updated”. Obviously the payment wasn’t captured.

The order was then shown as paid and the status was changed from “Hold” to “Processing”.

This plug-in has so many glitches that I can’t see it working any time soon. I really don’t know what to do because the old PayPal Payments Pro plugin we used for capturing card payments doesn’t work with 3DSecure.

I’m interested to hear what other users are using while this plug-in is being developed.

    Thanks

    Nick

    Hello @nssimpson

can you send me a screenshot of that order, please?

However, we’ve just had an order come through and it showed that the payment was authorized when it wasn’t (it was an obvious attempt at fraud).

To authorize or capture a payment can be done using WooCommerce (user) or your PayPal account only. Do you manage your online shop alone?

WooCommerce gave me the option to capture the payment but came up with an error message saying “Payment already captured” and “Order updated”. Obviously, the payment wasn’t captured.

Did you click on it? When did you get that message: “Payment already captured”

The order was then shown as paid and the status was changed from “Hold” to “Processing”.

The question is when did PayPal decline that payment? It seems not directly because when so then WooCommerce would not get a paid status. That status WooCommerce gets only after PayPal confirms it.

That whole order seems very weird because it was authorized but gave you the option to capture it? There are two possibilities only authorize or capture but not both at the same time.

Can you please send me all information you have about that order to [email protected] screenshot, log files, etc?

Got your site hacked in the past?

    Thank you so much
    Kind regards
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas

thanks for your reply. To answer your questions:

    1. I have just emailed you a bit more info and screenshots. We have an inhouse web developer.

    2. We have the plug-in set to only authorise the payment (this stops PayPal charging its transaction fee). We then go into the order to capture the payment if everything is okay. This order showed that the payment was successfully authorised even though it wasn’t. It gave me the option to capture the payment so I click that option on the WooCommerce order page and that’s when the two messages came up (see screenshot I emailed you).

    3. PayPal declined the payment straight away. It didn’t show up on their Activity page, which I why I called them up.

    Does that clarify everything?

    Thanks

    Nick
