Hi, I have encountered a number of instances in the last two days where orders are showing failed in Woocommerce but payment is successful in Stripe. I suspect that this make have something to do with Link by Stripe. I have tried unticking the box but it is still displayed in the payment box.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi @verdimedia

Thanks for sharing your experience! It does seem strange to have a successful payment in Stripe but a failed order in WooCommerce.

First, could you please check if your WooCommerce and Stripe plugins are up to date? Also, are there any error messages showing up?

Next, can you take a look at the order notes for one of the failed orders in WooCommerce? They often note any problems during the payment process. You should be able to see them on the right panel of an order, as shown here.

Sharing those details or screenshots would be helpful in pinpointing the issue. Looking forward to your response.

Thanks for your reply. This is the error which appears in the Order Notes section of the Failed order.

Payment failed: There was a problem connecting to the Stripe API endpoint. Order status changed from Pending payment to Failed.

By the way the plugin versions are:

    WooCommerce Stripe Gateway – 9.1.1

    WooCommerce – 9.5.2

I run raffle websites which live for about six months. Th plugins are up to date at the time of launch but I don’t usually update them during a raffle as it can cause a compatibility issue with the raffle software.

    Hi @verdimedia,

It sounds like you’re running into an issue where orders are showing as failed in WooCommerce even though the payment was successful in Stripe. The error message about the Stripe API endpoint usually indicates that there’s a problem with the communication between your site and Stripe, which could be related to Link by Stripe.

Here’s what I’d recommend you try:

    1. Check API Keys: Double-check that your Stripe API keys are correctly entered in the WooCommerce Stripe settings. Incorrect or outdated keys (In cases where the key gets regenerated on Stripe’s end) could cause the connection issue.
    2. Update the Stripe Plugin: Make sure your WooCommerce Stripe plugin is up to date. Sometimes, older versions have compatibility issues, especially with newer payment methods like Link by Stripe.
    3. Check Webhooks: Ensure that your Stripe webhooks are correctly set up and that they’re sending the right information to WooCommerce. A missing or incorrect webhook can prevent successful payments from being recorded in WooCommerce.
    4. Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins (especially caching or security plugins) can interfere with the Stripe connection. Try temporarily disabling other plugins to see if the issue resolves.

I just checked the site in question and it is showing that there are not available payment methods on the site. Can you confirm which plugin you’re using to enable Link By Stripe? Is it WooPayments?

Hi, I have deactivated Stripe on the website as the raffle has finished. I have another ongoing raffle here and have encountered one incidence of a failed order equating to a successful payment. The site is winafordkuga.ie

    Hello verdimedia,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand you encountered an issue where a failed order equated to a successful payment on your site.

Since this is a separate issue, please create a new topic following the forum guidelines.
Edit the affected order and include screenshots of the Order Notes when you create the new topic.

    Have a great day!
