• We have a site hosted at GoDaddy which was originally installed manually (NOT using their wizard). One click upgrade doesn’t work which I gather is a known issue with GoDaddy.

I followed the manual update instructions TO THE LETTER but get the following (no matter what page I try to hit):

Warning: require(D:\Hosting\4065810\html\cms/wp-includes/media.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\Hosting\4065810\html\cms\wp-settings.php on line 138

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘D:\Hosting\4065810\html\cms/wp-includes/media.php’ (include_path=’.;C:\php5\pear’) in D:\Hosting\4065810\html\cms\wp-settings.php on line 138

Copied back entire contents of site from local backup copy and it still works (thank heavens!).

Any direction at all would be much appreciated.

  • As you have such an old version of WordPress, you will need to carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades. See Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details.

I dont know that 3.5.2 is “such an old” version. The instructions you link to indicate that the manual process I went through is all thats required when going from versions as old as 2.7.x.

Anything older than 2 versions back (so currently 3.6) is considered “old” and should follow the extended upgrade process.
