I am trying to set up a demo site under my existing domain in the form of myexistingdomain.com/subdirectory
For this I have created a subdirectory inside this domain and installed wp there. I double checked database , user name , pw etc , they are all correct in my config.php file but its showing Error connecting database

I have set up many more demo sites before in the same way and they are still active, for example
    myexistingdomain.com/demo1
    myexistingdomain.com/demo2
    myexistingdomain.com/demo3
    myexistingdomain.com/demo4
    etc

    Please advice
    Thank you

  • Hey @cm2017,

For file folder structure, you seem to have things setup correctly, each sub-folder containing an instance of WordPress.
Following that, each instance of WordPress requires a separate mysql database and wp-config.php setup.
Can you confirm that the database and wp-config.php setup is separate from the main site?
Was the demo site an exact replicate of your main site? If so, maybe you need to do a find and replace command in mysql to change myexistingdomain.com to myexistingdomain.com/demo1

If you can supply some specific links I can look into it further.

    Hope that helps ??
If you have any follow up questions feel free to ask!

    Thanks
    Jordan

Thanks for your reply. I have created separate MySql for each subfolder. I wil supply more info here so that you can take a look.
    Thank you very much again
