• I was used to copy-paste the link of a Facebook video on the classic editor and automatically, WordPress converted it in the actual video without pasting the embedded code.
Now, out of nowhere, if I paste the facebook link, nothing happens so, I’m forced to use the embedded code. Someone knows where to check to re-active this option or what’s the problem?

  • Last I checked the only video’s that you did not need embed code for when using a self-hosted wp.org site were YouTube videos. There are plugins out there that might allow the same functionality for Facebook videos and vimeo among other video sites but by default I believe YouTube is the only one that does not require the embed code.

Hope this helps. Once you find the answer you’re looking for kindly tag the thread as resolved.

I have always embedded YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter posts/videos just pasting the URL. Everything still works expect from facebook…

    Hi there !
    Same here.
I’ve checked the class-oembed.php for reference, I was thinking about a typo or something. It seems fine on that side.
I recon Facebook changed something on their side for the moment or it’s a bug.
If anyone have some news about this, I’m interested as well.

I did a bit of further research into this and it looks like Facebook made some changes on their end that broke the integrations that are implemented in WP core which I was unaware existed!

I’d be willing to bet that the WP core devs are working on a fix for a future update.

Good to know but still, pretty strange considering I’ve another website running the same WordPress version and, for some reason, the link only embed works.
Anyway, let’s see if WordPress get this fixed
