I’ve redone everything in FB apps and the plugin’s FB settings and now the plugin doesn’t show the FB page as an option under ‘Select facebook pages for auto publish’. It just shows ‘Profile Page’. So it now won’t post to the FB page. I’ve clicked Reauthorize quite a few times.

I’m starting a new topic for this. The problem has changed.

Well maybe it hasn’t. Although the new problem awaits a solution this one goes on. Their debugger scraper sometimes eventually finds the right image. Pasting the link into a new post can turn up one correct image and another from some random place.

    Hello digbymaass,
When using the posting method “Share a link to your blog post ” or “Attach your blog post” , ‘Facebook Crawler’ uses internal heuristics to set the preview image for your content. It prefer the og tags, we fixed this issue in the latest version of the plugin FBAP.Please get the latest version and try again.

For your second issue “FB page not available for auto publish”,
as far as i know this is not a common issue,Can you please send your wp login details to https://xyzscripts.com/support/ then we can check it for you.

I always use the latest version!

    The latest version works fine.
This is not FBAP’s issue, The facebook crawler take control over how your website content appears to others while sharing links. You can use the Sharing Debugger to see the information used when your website content is shared on Facebook at here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

May be your image is too small or your link is cached by facebook, try again after using the debugger (to clear cache). This could happen if an already posted link is again posting to facebook.

This is something new Facebook is doing, from what I understand. It was done under the banner of “fighting fake news shares” from what I gather, but of course it mostly punishes regular bloggers, who after spending a day or two writing something can’t even share it to their Facebook page. I wonder how this is going to make them feel about using the platform?

What changed: When you put a link in the comment box, it will generate an image, title and text, but you can no longer modify the title, content, or image. You can upload new images, but you can’t select the uploaded image (even if you upload the image you want, you can’t use anything other than the image they originally found for you).

Anyway, someone should develop a plugin that lets you decide what image Facebook is able to access when it scrapes.

I’ve added the plugin ‘Facebook Open Graph, Google+ and Twitter Card Tags’ which lets you set an image to use if there is none in the post, which has helped. It also has an option to upload a relevant image if all else fails. With the two plugins things appear to be working, though not as nicely as previously.
