I have a default image in the SEO Yoast social section for FB. But I just noticed that in my last 3 posts on FB they all were the same image (the default). I’m a photographer so I guarantee that there are no shortage of images for FB to look at!

I have been using Gutenberg for a while now in beta so maybe that prevents FB from seeing the images on the articles?

I don’t mind the image since the most current article is of a covered bridge and the picture is of one as well but I would like my FB posts to get different images.
People are going to start thinking I’m just posting articles about one single covered bridge in Vermont.

Can you please confirm whether you have set a featured image for the page/post in question? If you haven’t, the expected behavior for the page is to use the default image for the Open Graph image.

I did have an image loaded into Yoasts SEO but I caught on to what was happening as it overrode what FB would do. I took it out and FB pulled correctly from the post. I thought FB would only take that image IF it didn’t get a good image??? it now only posts the same image over and over…
    Broken…

    Hi @folgerj,

Please note that Facebook is caching URLs which have been previously posted. This means they will not check your URLs for changes until their cache expires, even though you may have made the correct changes in Yoast SEO.

n order to force Facebook to clear the cache of a URL, please submit it to their Sharing Debugger and click the Scrape Again button several times. After you have done this, you can try sharing your URL on Facebook again and it should show the updated Open Graph tags.

We went ahead and rescraped your URL, the current image shown when displaying your URL on Facebook is this one. Does this match the image you have set with Yoast SEO?

We are looking forward to your reply.

Hi – I have just been updated to WP5/gutenberg and am having the same issue.
I however can not find a way how to set, edit or specify the ‘og:image’property (as explained on the FB sharing debugger). There is no such option in the featured image tool in the new gutenberg interface.

This is becoming a source of great frustration, both in Facebook and Linkedin.

    Thanks in advance.
