when selecting “Use Post Excerpt as Post Attribute” i have the following configuration:

    Facebook Status Update text:
    : New blog post : %title% – %link%

however, the actual post on FB only shows the excerpt and not “New blog post”, etc.
if i try deselecting “Use Post Excerpt as Post Attribute” then i just see whatever is configured for “Facebook Post Attribute line”, e.g. “New blog post”, and nothing else.

how can i get my FB posts to display:
“New blog post: %title (or) <excerpt>”

    thanx in advance

As explained in the user manual – the Facebook Status Update text is what is published when you post as a Status Update – it is NOT used when posting as a regular wall post.

The Post Attribute, when its not set to the post excerpt, is simply a little “pre-amble” Its not supposed to contain things like a title as that information is included in the post.

ok, the reason i wanted the Post Attribute to contain more than the pre-amble is because the page forwards posts to our twitter account, so i was hoping for the twitter followers to see more than just “new blog post”

as for Status Updates, from what i understand you cannot post a thumbnail with them, so that is a less than ideal option. so if i gain the “new blog post: %title” feature by setting the “post as status update” it means i have to lose the thumbnail?

Status updates are text only – they are simply a status update, they’re supposed to be short with no images or formatting (It’s a different API to a wall post)

Looking at the code the Post Attribute would seem to be passed through the attribute parser so you might find that the tags work in there too.
