Facebook Share Button Malfunctioning

  • Something strange just happened to my blog. I have categories of music in my menu with posts underneath. What is happening is that when I Facebook share any of my posts, instead of the actual post it will share the entire category the post is under. It doesn’t seem to be an issue with the other share buttons next to it like Twitter, they are sharing the actual post. Ive tried uninstalling my Social Media sharing plug-ins, but so far no luck so Im not sure whats going on. I had some other technical issues and recently uninstalled a bunch of my plug-ins. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but Im reinstalling them slowly. Anyhow, just scroll down any category, and click facebook share on a post, you should see what I mean how it doesnt share the actual post. Thanks so much for any help!! P.S. I’m new to wordpress, and don’t really know how to do any of that coding stuff, but am willing to learn if you can explain it to me simply! Thanks again. Headstash Music

    What plugin are you using to add the sharing buttons now?

    Are you using category sticky post plugin? Try uninstalling it and see if it resolves the issue. ??

    I deactivated my sharing plug in and tried a new one called Simple Share and it seems to be working again! It is sharing the actual post, and my featured image is also showing up again. I tried deactivating sticky plug in before I resolved this issue, and it would then just share whatever post was at the top fo the page. Seems good now though. Now I just have to find out where my debugging tool went, if anyone has any tips/advice on that. Cheers!

    I’m not sure what “my debugging tool” is, so I’m not sure where it went. ??

    Would you please elaborate on that?

    Sorry Im very new to blogging. On the right hand side of my edit page where I edit category, featured image and tags there also used to be a facebook debugging tool. Sometimes changes I made wouldnt appear when I would share the post, but if I used the debugging tool to scrape the post it would update all the changes and share properly. Ive been having issues with my comments boxes affecting the way my share buttons works and deleted a bunch of plug ins to see if they were part of the problem. I may have deleted the debugging tool, Ive tried installing new ones but they dont seem to work, and dont show up on my edit page the way the old one did.

    Hm, unfortunately I’m not sure what you’re referring to, I’ve never seen it in a plugin myself, but then again there are thousands of plugins.
