• So quite simply this plugin does not seem to work. It definitely does not seem to work with a Genesis theme (1.8.1) .

Facebook Plugin comments section does not generate any comments and the installation instructions do not mention that the plugin sends you over to developers.facebook.com to pick up iframe script to then manually insert into your theme.

Frankly, using the Facebook Comments Plugin by Alex Moss is infinitely better. Why doesn’t Facebook simply pay Alex a couple hundred thousand dollars and have him build his plugin all over again for Facebook?

This plugin was a waste of time and way way over hyped

    Quick update

tried the 1.0.1 version of this plugin with updated Genesis 1.8.2 from Copyblogger media aka StudioPress (yes it is a paid theme but one of the main stays in WordPress)

So far the plugin still does not work, some slight movement.

When I turn on comments in WP>Settings>Discussion I do see a link that appears at the top (not the bottom) of my post that ‘View Comments’

note it does not say ‘Leave Comments’ or anything, nor does it give me an option to edit what it might read there.

Regardless, clicking the link does nothing, as the link is simply a link to the blog article. No box appears with this link at the top nor at the bottom (where I gather it should appear)

I did read the instructions on the comment thread about this not showing up at all and let me point out that

    1) requiring people to upgrade to WP 3.4 is not wise. WordPress is notorious for having both security and buggy issues with major releases. Much safer to wait for 3.4.1.

    2) the select all post, quick edit step is ridiculous as essentially it is updating a number of items in the database. That may fool this plugin to act appropriately, but it is a buggy work around and not practical at all for a site that might have more than say 100 posts within it.

Despite my misgivings of upgrading to WP 3.4 I do want to see this resolved, so against the advise of my web host (Zippy Kid) I updated to WordPress 3.4 and the results are the same as 3.3.2.

It still does not work. ??

I installed it and it’s supposed to be working, but doesn’t show up on my website.

A lot of wonky things are happening. At first comments showed then they disappeared. Then they reappeared but the order was reversed on some. Then the number of comments (count) showed and then it didn’t. Please resolve.

Could this be just an incompatibility with Wp 3.4 ?
    ( Maybe? ).

    ??

When I post this reply, 5 people are saying that this Facebook Plugin is broken.
And no one says that it’s working.

And also there are some unresolved threads here and there in the forums.

@alvbayu I’m running 3.4 and it’s working fine. Are you seeing issues?

@nadst What are the steps we can take to reproduce your issue?

Unfortunately, I can’t get Jetpack installed (even with the FB plugin disabled). Getting this error:

Error Details: The Jetpack server could not communicate with your site’s XML-RPC URL. Please check to make sure https://www.mattkel.ly/fb-hacks/wp/xmlrpc.php is working properly. It should show ‘XML?RPC server accepts POST requests only.’ on a line by itself when viewed in a browser and should not have any blank links or extra output anywhere.

I’m pinging the Jetpack folks to see what’s going on.

this is so stressful…. i have reed all the post and no one have answer this crappy plugin issue…. if anyone have found the solution and can give a little of help

email me at [email protected] and i will pay for the solution… gggrrrrr

I have a page with WP 4.3.1 and latest facebook plugin.

    https://www.motorposten.no

the box shows up and people can comment, and its only shows up in

    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/comments?id=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx&view=queue&ref=notif&notif_t=open_graph_comment

the comments does not shows up on Facebook Page or in WordPress Comments… anyone????

    lol 3.4.1 my bad… ??

I have the same problem – and please speak in terms I can understand as in FACEBOOK FOR DUMMIES. All I know is I am not able to sign in anyplace to leave a comment. When I choose either of the two choices I use (Yahoo or Facebook) it opens a blank page and there is nothing on the page and I can’t sign in to leave a comment and I’m pretty fed up.

I too have the same problem on my website tryme.in but I am not using any plugin. Maybe this has nothing to do with the plugin.
I read somewhere that facebook has some security features for like/share buttons for new websites. Maybe that has something to do with it.

    Omg, this is so annoying!

Figured out what my problem was! It had to do with the theme.

Somehow i feel you tried to integrate facebook comments a little too much into wordpress as it was part of the CMS and not as a separate plugin.

That reflects in certain conflicts. For example i’m the type of user who does not want to deal with wordpress comments. So i disabled them from the theme.

How is your plugin working with users who want to disable WP comments but leave Facebook comments up. You can do that by commenting the wp comments code in index.php, single.php and page.php but for those lacking those skills, how does it work?
