Not sure if this is the right place to ask for Facebook Messenger.

Is there a way to make the welcome message stop popping up so frequently?
It would be nice to set a cookie for a few days/weeks to stop it from popping up everytime a person goes to the site.
Even after I ‘X’ it back down it pops up when 15 minutes later.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hey @doylegirl!

Thanks so much for writing in with your question. I’m afraid there isn’t anything that would allow for this at the moment, though it certainly sounds like a good idea! We’d be restricted to what the Facebook messenger scripts allow, though I’ll happily take a note of this for our product team and developers to look into for the future.

I can’t guarantee that this will make it onto our development roadmap, as we base our product improvements on a number of factors, including how many times we receive a particular request, and whether it would even be possible! That said, I’d recommend keeping an eye on the changelog for up to date information.

Sorry that it’s not the best of answers this time around. Thanks so much for the feedback though! If you have anything else I can help with, please do let me know.

    Cheers,

    Simon.

I’ll probably have to see what my other options are. Thanks for the honest response.

Thanks for letting me know @doylegirl!

I hope we can continue to improve the plugin going forward. Perhaps at that time you might be able to give us another try. ??

Any other issues, if you do decide to keep the plugin, please do let me know!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Also looking at how to disable messenger greeting. I had the same issue with opencart but thankfully the developer fixed it. Here it is his fix https://github.com/facebookincubator/Facebook-For-OpenCart/issues/314 if that can give you any insights on how to fix it.

    Hey @webg,

Thanks for sharing the details! At this time the plugin doesn’t have a good way to allow changing these settings, and the only options for the messenger plugin are for color and text. For most merchants, who aren’t comfortable with manually editing code, we would need to update the plugin settings in this area to allow for the additional options that are mentioned on the linked Github issue.

Thanks so much for passing this on though, I’ve made a note of this example on the enhancement request for our product team to assess going forward.

If you have any other issues I can help with, please don’t hesitate to let me know!

    Cheers,

    Simon.
