Facebook Like button not working

I’ve been having this problem with a few different Facebook like plug-ins. I tried the Really Simple Facebook Twitter Share Buttons plugin, the 1.6.2 version, and it still doesn’t work.

What did you mean when you said they limited the accepted URL format? My site is here:

I see you’re using the Facebook Share button. Did you try to use Facebook Like instead? Is there any difference on your site?

Yeah, I did try the Facebook like button, on many different plugins, but I found the Facebook share was the only thing that worked.

I had the same problem with the Facebook Like not working and found this page https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ which generates HTML for a given URL. I noticed that the sample iframe code included a app_id=long_number& and a send=false&. After adding both of these to the plugin’s iframe line (quoted above) my Facebook Like button now works.

Not knowing if the long_number is something unique to me (I know nothing of facebook programming) I haven’t included it.

The quoted facebook developers page form also says the Send button is for the XFBML code only, so I think perhaps the plugin’s ‘Show send button’ option on its settings page needs reviewing.

Edit: The two above & should be the full HTML entity name for that character, but I can’t figure out how to add the amp; at the end without the forum eating it.

leny2010: the actual “like” button is “iframe” code, while the “send” button, if activated, is “xfbml” code; the two are independent. We tried to add the missing parameters but it didn’t work in every situation.

amblogger: the link you provided shows a procedure not working for everyone (just see the comments below that article). Also, when it’s working, an “unnamed app” is automatically created in my profile for every page (not even just one for every website) I put on that “Facebook Lint” procedure. The “app_id” parameter is new, difficult to understand for simple users and undocumented.

This whole new behaviour is complex, unexpected, undocumented and unwanted for me and a lot of other users I talked with. Facebook developers are definitely doing something wrong these days. See you soon ??
