    Jetpack Mechanic ??

When you share a post on Facebook, or when Jetpack Publicize publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head to build a complete post preview (with an image, title, description, …).

Jetpack automatically creates these Open Graph Meta tags for you unless you already use another Open Graph plugin, in which case we let the other plugin handle things.

Looking at your site, I think you’re using another plugin to handle Open Graph meta tags. Jetpack consequently has no control over the look of your posts on Facebook.

Since you also use the WordPress SEO plugin, I’d suggest deactivating your Open Graph plugin, and going to SEO > Social to use WP SEO’s Open Graph meta tags instead. WP SEO’s tags usually work well, so you shouldn’t have any missing tags once you start using it to manage your tags.

Please note that Facebook will throw errors if you have 2 sets of Open Graph meta tags, so it’s important that you deactivate your existing OG plugin before to activate WP SEO’s tags.

    I hope this helps.

I will delete the WP seo and see if that works. I have already tried blocking publicize from doing OG meta tags.

I’d suggest keeping WP SEO instead, and delete your other Open Graph plugin. WP SEO’s tags work well, and you might be interested in other features included in WP SEO.

I do not know which plugin is doing the SEO other than Jetpack and WP SEO. Does the Facebook Plugin have it’s own SEO handling too?

I am still getting the error where it does not know the type —
    https://nhlabornews.com/2014/10/on-national-manufacturing-day-kuster-pushes-legislation-to-boost-small-manufacturers-seeking-to-expand/

The ‘og:type’ property is required, but not present.

I won’t scrape new until you get a chance to look at it.

I’m not too sure why Facebook can’t see any Open Graph Meta tags when it first crawls your posts.

Could you try to deactivate your caching plugin, and publish a new post? That should help us make sure that your caching plugin doesn’t serve a cached version of the page without the tags to Facebook’s bot.

    Thanks!

    Still getting this error

Missing Required Property The ‘og:type’ property is required, but not present.

Says this should also be fixed:

Inferred Property The ‘og:url’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

All errors are gone after, scrapped a second time. Image did not appear on FB until after the second scrape.

    Cache Plugin de-active.

At this point, I’m afraid I can only suggest that you get in touch with Facebook developers and ask them why Facebook’s bot isn’t able to grab Meta tags from your site when it first crawls a post. You can do so here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/support/

Before you do so, I’d suggest trying a different Open Graph plugin to make sure the problem is not linked to the plugin currently adding the tags to your post.

For some reason PUBLICIZE is pushing the link to face book before the Permalink is processed.

For Example, on facebook it pointed to NHLN.com/P-1844 but the real link is

    https://nhlabornews.com/2014/10/do-you-frequent-a-place-that-is-rife-with-sexual-harassment-the-answer-will-surprise-you/

This is causing an error in that the image does not show up and I keep getting a OG Type error because the WP SEO has not completed posting the OG info.

Publicize uses your site’s shortlinks when sending your post to Facebook and other Social Networks.

That post’s shortlink is https://nhlabornews.com/?p=23452. https://nhlabornews.com/?p=1844 seems to be an old post of yours:
    https://nhlabornews.com/2011/05/nh-negotiators-return-change-pension-reform-date-westport-news/

Could you let me know where you saw the 1844 ID? Screenshots can also help, if the ID appears in one of your Facebook Updates that I can’t see because I’m not your Facebook Friend.

You can use https://snag.gy/ to share screenshots here.

    Thanks!

I made the P-1844 up and I realized now that it is the wordpress shortlink when the WP links are not active. Here is another post.

I have not debugged it or anything.

It just seems that publicize is pushing the link to facebook before FB can properly scrape the link. Is there a way to delay the push to FB for 30-seconds or 2 minutes?

After I post the link in FB everything is fine, but the initial posting on my page does not generate an image.

Yep, that’s what I mentioned earlier: Facebook’s bot isn’t able to grab Meta tags from your site when it first crawls a post. That’s often caused by performance issues: the first page load is slow, and since Facebook is the first to load your posts it takes so long to load the page that Facebook’s bot eventually gives up.

It isn’t possible to delay the push to FB, but you might be able to solve the issue with some tweaks to your caching plugin.

Let me know how it goes.

I stopped the Cache program from running and I am still getting the same error.

It is your plugin that is causing the error how can I fix it?

If you say a cache program can solve the problem, you need to explain how.
