Facebook image not consistent

The facebook sharing icon doesn’t seem to bring up a photo to share the first time the FB icon is clicked. If you close the FB share window, and re-click the button, it then loads it with a photo. And it doesn’t seem to be consistent with what size of photo it uses. It sometimes uses a small thumbnail with text on the right side of the thumbnail, and other times, it seems to use a larger photo with text below the photo.
I wanted to add sharing after each single post, however, when using the shortcode tab, and setting it to after, it would also show the sharing icons on my homepage where I have the last 5 posts with ‘read more’, meaning it would show up after each “read more” section. I didn’t want the sharing icons here rather only on the full single post pages. So I had to remove the shortcode after each post, and I had to add it to my single.php file instead. Just FYI.
