Facebook Group Feed with comments (free)

    Hi all,

    I’ve just being trying out a few plugins to display a feed from a Facebook group on a wordpress site for a club. They seem to work but I’d like to show images/links and in particular any comments that might have been made in reply to the facebook posts. A couple of the ones I’ve tried require the purchase of a pro upgrade both of which are beyond the budget (i.e. zero) that the club want to pay.

    Can anyone recommend a plug-in that allows me to get functionality for free please.

    Hi Peter,

    You might not need a plugin. Facebook offer a number of ways to work with facebook on your site. Here’s a link to embed your page: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/page-plugin

    Thanks for the quick response @robhob. Unfortunately it looks like this doesn’t work with a Facebook Group page. Unless I’ve done something wrong somewhere

    Have you tried the Feed Them Social plugin? It looks like it might do what you’re looking for.

    Thanks again for the assistance Rob. It does look like this might be suitable.

    I’ve just installed it but get an error when activating it which appears to be a php version problem. The plug-in needs v5.3 and the server I’m on is v 5.2.x – I’ll therefore need to look to asking my host to move my websites onto a compatible server.

    Hi Peter,

    Glad to hear you’re coming right.

    I’d recommend you use 5.6 or make the jump to 7. The performance improvements are big, even from 5.2 to 5.6. If your host can’t oblige, I’d recommend looking for a new host.
