Facebook for Woocommerce rewrites Product Short Description, SKU and Inventory
-
Hey,
It’s a bit complicated but I hope the following description explains the issue:1.We added Facebook for Woocommerce and synced our products to our catalogue, even all our variable products – this works fine, e.g. editing Facebook descriptions or prices, which are also later changed on the Facebook/Instagram Shop. (so nice!)
2. While editing the Facebook descriptions, we noticed that within the Woocommerce-Backend on the Product-Editing-Page some content is suddenly wrong and can’t be changed back:
2a. Let’s say we worked on Product99 and there we noticed the SKU switched to a SKU from a much earlier Product. (Infact, it switched to the SKU of the first Product – Produkt01 – within the categorie of these products). We change the SKU of product99 back and tried to save/update the changes… BUT… with that we got an ERROR Message “invalid or duplicate article number” and it automatically showed the SKU of Product01 again.
2b. The same happend with the content fields of the Short Product Description and the number set on Inventory. (and maybe more fields, but we don’t use those)3. In order to find the causing Plugin we deactived all, and activeded them one after another, testing in between the Product99 and wether changes are saved. No plugin caused the problem until we actived FB for Woo.
4. We also checked this first Produkt01 and made SKU (from 12345 to 98765) and Product Short Description changes there – somehow these changes were saved for Product01… and
5. Going back to Product99, we saw that also these changes were automatically applied to all other products once we opened the Product-Editing-Page. (meaning now all products in this category had SKU 98765 instead of their original typed in own number.
6. If it helps – products that are not synced with facebook (some we only offer in our Woo Shop) are NOT affected by the SKU (or other) automatically changes.
Well, having a facebook shop is important. And syncing products (via Connection or Pixel) is crucial!! Managing products in the Facebook/Instagram Shop manually or via Feeds is so inconvenient especially with quite a couple of products.
BUT having issues with the SKU and short description or inventory makes the whole WooCommerce Shop really difficult to work with – as wrong information are displayed in the backend and also in the Frontend. How do we keep FB for Woo “away” from changing setting for our Products in our WooCommerce Backend (??) … but still synchronizing the information to the FB Shop, as we still need to use this plugin.
Happy for any help, ideas or feedback.
