    Hi guys,

curious to know if anyone has managed to master categorising products on a Facebook Page’s shop from a feed via ‘Facebook for WooCommerce’ plugin in a WordPress WooCommerce web site – boutyeh.com/shop

When on our Facebook Page’s Shop, there is no option to categorise products. The only available option is to Manage Your Catalogue, which allows setting up catalogues solely for use in Facebook ad campaigns.

Very much looking forward to your thoughts.

  • Same here bro, I cant update plugin as well.

    Hey @veetoouk,

Do you mean the collections option? It would be great if you could share a screenshot of the button you are looking for!

If it is the collections option, we have seen that this is removed when using the plugin to connect the store to Facebook. At this time, the plugin doesn’t have any control over this functionality on the Facebook front end, though there is clearly some connection between using the plugin, and setting up the shop manually as you’ve seen!

Our product team are going to look into creating collections automatically based on the WooCommerce product categories once the new Facebook API is available though. I’m afraid at the moment there isn’t a workaround to create collections manually when using the plugin.

Sorry it isn’t the best of news this time around. If I’ve misunderstood your request, and it isn’t related to the collections, could you let me know?

    Cheers,
    Steve

    Hey @llubbo18 ,

Sorry to hear you are unable to update the plugin. What version are you currently running? Are there errors when you attempt to update the plugin? If so, can you please let us know the error message that you are receiving so we can research this further?

    Cheers,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    1. Categories associated with products on Woocommerce are not transferred to the Facebook Page Shop. That was my concern.

    2. I am running version Version 1.11.0 of the Facebook for Woocommerce plugin – there is no prompt on WordPress to update this plugin which, I believe, occurs when an update is made available.

    Hey @veetoouk,

Thanks so much for confirming! Currently, the WooCommerce categories are synced within the Product Type field that can be used to generating product sets if you wish. Using them as an organizational tool for your shop page isn’t possible, however, as Steve mentioned this would need to be done with Facebook Collections that is not available with products uploaded with our plugin at this time.

Our product team are gathering feedback on this feature request for Collections though, and are working with Facebook to see what’s possible with the new version of the API!

That said, if you open up your Facebook catalog, and attempt to create a product set you can use the Product Type “contains” WooCommerce_Category to use these within your search.

I’m afraid this is the only option at this time, though I would love to hear more about how you were hoping to use the WooCommerce categories in Facebook. I can then pass this feedback on to our product team!

Would you mind sharing this additional information for me?

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Reinstalling pluging helped. But it is really not possible to export categories to facebook shop from woocommerce?

    Hey @llubbo18!

Thanks so much for confirming that reinstalling helped out, that’s great to hear. ??

As to exporting categories, as my colleagues Simon and Steve said, right now the best way to group things is through the Facebook Collections feature.

Of course, we’d love to know more about your needs for category exporting. We recently took over support and development for the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin, so we’re more than happy to hear what would make things easier for you! We can then bring it back to our product team for potential inclusion in a future version.

Do you have any specific thoughts or needs to share here? Please don’t hesitate to let us know.

    Thanks so much!

same here, after a bit of struggele I’ve managed to import the products on my facebook page but:

I have more than 150 products and 12 categories, if I can divide them on my facebook by categories or any other way would be great,
at the moment products are showed without a real order, I think is just the upload order, and is really frustrating for me and my customers.

on a normal page catalog I could categorize them by collections, with the woocomemrce import I’m unable to do that

also from facebook catalog management page seem I can just group them but only for advertising campaigns , can not modifiy them in any way.
the best solution would just be to use imported categories to at least group them on the showcase on the page or let be able to manually order them

    Hey @raffosan,

Thanks for following up here, you’re absolutely right. At the moment, it’s only possible to create product sets based on the products that the plugin has synced. This is used for Ad purposes as you say.

What we would rather do is create a Facebook collection that would allow the sort of categorization that you’re looking for. Unfortunately, at this time, it’s not possible to create Facebook collections when the plugin has been used to create the catalog.

Our product team is aware of this, and are looking at ways to implement this in a future version of the plugin. What they would love to know, however, is if you would hope that the WooCommerce categories of your products would be automatically created as Facebook collections? Or would you expect to be able to adjust the Facebook collection of products in your WooCommerce store separately?

I’d be super grateful if you could share this with me so I can pass it on to my team!

    Cheers,

    Simon.

to me would be ok to get them already categorized as I have on my site,I would anyway order in the same way, but also I would like to have the ability to have one main collection to show as in the standard facebook page, maybe to show special offers or brand new products

    Hey @raffosan,

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be sure to pass this on to the product team. When you mention a main collection to show as standard, if we were to sync the WooCommerce categories as collections, would it be possible to assign a WooCommerce category for this purpose too? I just wanted to make sure I understood what you were thinking of there.

For instance, you could apply a “special offers” category to the WooCommerce products inside of WooCommerce, and that would become a category in Facebook alongside, “Apparel”, “T-Shirts”, “Hoodies” etc.

Did I understand you correctly on that point?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

We have product categories in woocommerce… but our Facebook Catalog / Shop dont have information from Woocommerce about our product categories.

Do you have any idea, how I can sync category?

    Hi @kotromar,

Thanks for reaching out. ?? At present, Facebook doesn’t have categories, rather it has collections. Our plugin doesn’t currently sync categories to collections or anything like that, though we’re interested in knowing how you’d want this to work!

Would you want your WooCommerce categories for your products to be automatically created as Facebook collections? Or would you want to modify the Facebook collection of products in your WooCommerce store separately?

Thanks for any other info here!

They don’t call them collection – right? They call them “sets” – so not sure we are speaking the same language. Assuming they are the same, then I vote “Yes”: product_type => collection. I have seen it done this way with Ecwid (but it not WooCommerce.)
