We’re using the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin and our site is loading extremely slow. After disabling the plugin it loaded faster.

After taking a look at Google PageSpeed Insights, it appears as if the plugin is loading over 4.5MB in scripts. Is there a way to fix this? It doesn’t seem like a very good practice.

Here’s a screenshot that shows the Google PageSpeed Insights diagram.

    Hello jluisfg,

Thank you for reaching out to WooCommerce support regarding the performance concerns with your site when using the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin.

Please note that the scripts loaded by the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin are essential for its functionality.

To get a better view of your situation, I would like to review your site’s System Status Report.

    Here’s how to get it:
    1. Go to WooCommerce > Status in your WordPress dashboard.
    2. Click on ‘Get system report’ and then ‘Copy for support.’
    3. Open?https://gist.github.com?and paste the report into a new Gist. Save the Gist.
    4. Share the Gist link by pasting it here in your reply.

This data will give us a clearer picture of your website’s environment and could provide insights that could be adjusted for improved performance.

I look forward to assisting you further. ??

    Best regards.

    Hello jluisfg,

    Thank you for your reply.

I’ve conducted a performance test from my end and noticed there are several factors contributing to the load time, not just the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin. An element that stood out is the Facebook Messenger widget — it seems to play a considerable part in the load speed.

You mentioned 4.5MB worth of scripts, and I wanted to point out that the scripts from this widget are included in that calculation. This widget is also prominently mentioned at the top of the PageSpeed Insights report, which you can view here:?

As a next step, I recommend removing the Facebook Messenger widget from your site temporarily and then conducting another speed test. This will help us isolate the impact of the widget on your site’s performance.
Kindly try this and share the results with me.

Alongside, there are some other areas to consider, such as optimizing the Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), mitigating render-blocking resources, and reducing unused CSS and JavaScript. These issues can also slow down your website.

If you think you are unfamiliar with these terms, I suggest consulting a professional web developer. You can easily find one at codeable.io.

Once you have the results from the speed test without the Messenger widget, please share them with me.

Looking forward to your response. ??

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
