Facebook follow button not displaying

  • First of all i am unable to check my WP version,i suppose it’s because i have a free plan.I started it in november 2016.
    The problem is that i generate the follow code from Facebook,and when i copy the code to a simple text widget,it only shows a text link when clicked it opens the Facebook follow button in a new tab?
    here is the sample code from Facebook:

    It seems like a wp.com related question. Could you please confirm? If so, it should be addressed with their support, because these are forums for WordPress CMS, not blogging platform.
