    Hey team,

I set up the Facebook feed about a week ago and while it worked, it didn’t automatically update. The only way I could get it to update was to either clear the Smash Balloon plugin cache or re-save the feed. In saying that, I can see the up to date FB posts in the back end, but they do not populate into the front end until Cache is cleared or I save the feed. Why isn’t it staying up to date?

Another unrelated question. I am considering purchasing you plus version to present Facebook Videos as well. Does your Facebook video feed update automatically and will is present live Facebook feeds?

    Thanks

    Hey Pete,

The issue wasn’t really resolved, I had to use the Pro version in the end. Seems the free version requires you to manually trigger the the feed and it won’t do it automatically, despite their claims that it does. The paid version of course, works like a dream (funny that). I even went as far as using Uptime Robot to try and trigger the free version, but nothing will trigger other than manually clearing cache.

Sadly there is no free way out of this one, trust me I tried all the rival plugins and they are completely useless. Smash Balloon have this one covered unfortunately and they ain’t cheap!

I just wish Smash Balloon were honest about it, so that developers don’t end up wasting precious hours trying to fix the unfixable. Perhaps that’s something www.remarpro.com need to be a little tighter on.

    Hi There,

@troyw2015 I’m glad you managed to get your feed updating consistently after an upgrade to the pro version of the plugin, but sorry we could not resolve it for you on the free version. This issue affects a very small number of sites on the Facebook Feeds Free plugin and it has been resolved on most/all of them (except yours) without the need to upgrade. I’m checking with my colleagues to get more details on this and will get back to @pete468 on the ticket he already opened.

    Best Regards,

    Hey Nigel,

Yeah not sure why, I tested on a couple of websites and had the same issue. I use Generatepress for 90% of my website builds, mainly because it rarely conflicts with anything. Not sure if that is the cause, maybe I will try it on Elementor and see what happens. I wonder what platform @pete468? is using?

Hi Troy – I’m using vanilla WordPress with a basic custom theme. The Facebook feed has worked without issue for 4 years. There has been no fundamental changes on the site other than WordPress and Plugin updates. Nigel has advised me to do all the things that have been talked about already (Caching, CRON, feed settings, etc.) I’ve done these things with no effect. Hopefully there is something else that can be done.
