FTS has been working well for months or years. Suddenly it stops working and shows this error:

To add to the info above:

Facebook for Developers / App Review / My permissions indicates I have email and public_profile permissions already. Do I need to request other permissions?

Thanks for using our plugin for so long!

Facebook made major changes a while back… the whole privacy issue that went down with cambridge, so they made a bunch of changes that now require a bunch more special permissions to show your feed. The only way now to get your feed up and running is to click the button on the Facebook options page of our plugin to get an access token. What you have in place now is an APP ID and unfortunately those do not work anymore because you APP needs to go through a review process. Quite a pain, took us over 30 days to get approved.

Wow! Why did I not hear about this earlier?!? I mean, I did hear some things from Facebook, but had no idea what, as a practical matter, that meant for this plugin. I was certain that if it really made a difference, we’d hear something from you.

    Anyway, water over the dam.

I clicked the button and got the new Page ID and Access Token. I generated the new (lengthy) shortcode and pasted it into the widget. And it works!

But you said I need to get additional permissions and go through another review process. What are the permissions I need? (I miss-stated above. I currently have email, public_profile, and user_friends on the FTS Social Feed app.)

    Thank you.

We sent out emails, made facebook posts and even made a blog post and then created a sticky post in the forum here letting everything know. Unfortunately we’re not advising people how to create and get permissions for your own app anymore because the process is to lengthy and seems to be changing often. Stoked though you got the access token working, thanks for continuing to use our plugin ?? Have a great week ahead.

Sorry I missed all those efforts for communication.

I’m really confused about the permissions, though. And it is really Facebook’s problem, I think. They are treating this like I wrote the app and know what is going on behind the scene, but I have no idea what permissions the plugin requires. Why doesn’t Facebook get that answer once from you, the author, so that all your users who are simply using a plugin don’t have to request things they know nothing about.

If you tell me the permissions required, I think I can do the mechanics to work through the Facebook developers labyrinth.

    Thanks, Spencer!

Oops! So I guess the only permission in question is that user_friends needs to be re-authorized/reviewed. And submitting that for review asks a bunch of questions which I have no idea how to answer. Why is this so complicated?

I searched for info on FTS and user_friends permission and came up with noting useful. Can you please point me to the info you referenced earlier?

    Thanks.

Here is a pic of the permissions etc we have on our app. Good luck, it took over a month for us to get approved too so don’t hold your breath ??
